Exercises you should not do after the 40’s

The exercise is one of our best allies against time and premature ageing of the body and brain, but some exercises are forbidden from certain age.

The methods and types of exercises practiced can, and should, be appropriate to your age group. By 40 years old, we still feel very young and we don’t always remember that our biological age is not exactly the same as our youthfulness of spirit. Physical activity should never be neglected and whatever your age, you must practice it regularly whenever possible.

It is certain that if you don’t practice exercise taking into account the age of the body, these can contribute to weight gain, as well as having detrimental effects rather than beneficial to our health, causing the faster aging.

As we age, our body gradually stops to produce certain hormones like when we were younger. But the good news is that some researchers have found that our body has the ability to go back to stimulate the production of hormones naturally. And the sport we choose plays a key role.

Cardio

Cardio activity must be well controlled. What happens is that this practice burns all kinds of fats, including the one in the muscles. If applied in an exaggerated and intense manner, it can result in degradation of lean muscles and increase the production of free radicals, small molecules that when in excess are responsible for premature ageing. In addition, high-impact activities can be extremely harmful to your joints.

Abdominals

This type of exercises does not diminish the fat lodged in stomach, although it helps define your muscles – just that it happens under the fat layer. Without other associated measures, the abdominals are not effective in reducing abdominal fat. In fact, when taken in excess, or incorrectly, they can harm your back by making too much effort on your spine.

Yoga

Yoga is undoubtedly a perfect exercise to relax and reduce stress and anxiety, but is not very effective in keeping the body young, except when it is practiced in a very advanced level. Of course it’s always a beneficial practice, but if you want to regain muscle mass, after the 40´s, we lose it quickly, especially women, so you might want to stay close to yoga.
