We know that a good oral hygiene, which includes brushing three or more times a day and using dental floss, as well as mouthwash daily, is halfway to having a healthy dentition. Still, there are foods that strengthen the health of our teeth. Get to know some of them.

Cheese

Rich in protein and calcium, as any dairy, cheese strengthens bones and teeth. Furthermore, when you eat cheese, the acidity levels in your mouth increases, reducing the risk of cavities.

Vegetables

Iron, minerals and vitamins: a miracle cocktail for oral health, since they guarantee the protection and strengthening of the enamel, preventing the teeth to be threatened by external agents and other foods that are not so good for your health, such as sugars.

Apples

Not all sugars are bad for your teeth: like the natural sugars present in fruits. Apples are especially nice for oral health, they have high amounts of water and fibers, causing an increase of saliva in the mouth, washing more bacteria and food residues that may be present in the mouth. Besides, its fibrous texture activates the gums. The same happens with the carrots.

Almonds

With almost neutral sugar levels and high protein and calcium, almonds are ambrosia for the teeth.

Chewing gum (sugar-free)

Chewing gum can actually help clear food debris present in your mouth. Anyway, it is important not to exaggerate this habit in order to not wear off the enamel of the dental crowns.

Water

Yes, water is also good for your teeth: it not only moisturizes the gums, giving them vitality, but also helping clean the mouth of bacteria harmful to oral health.
