Discover the cheating reps method

Among the various existing techniques for muscle hypertrophy, some see cheating reps as one of the most effective, but it should be applied only in specific cases and limited to a few exercises.

The stolen repetitions method, or “cheating reps” is just that: a way to trick your muscles in order to enhance your work and increase.

Strength and hypertrophy

Muscle hypertrophy and strength are the objectives that this method aims at. Somewhat similar to the practice of forced reps, this technique excludes the aid of a partner, focusing on the change of movement of the exercise, near its end, what gives muscles a new breath to keep up.

Although you don´t need help of a partner, this method has aid to complete the exercise, but this help comes from the other muscle groups. It is characterized by the recruitment of other muscle groups to help the agonist, i.e. the muscle, or muscles, that is in effect during muscle contraction. These muscles help the agonist to hold more weight than normal to finish the exercise.

What happens is a change in the movement that the exercise is normally executed, by facilitating the manipulation of the overload. The change in execution is the “cheat” that takes place.

Advantages

According to one of the authors, Conssenza, who has published studies on the topic, this method is particularly effective in cases where the goal is to increase muscle mass and strength. But the advantages do not stop there, the author also points greater ease of performing the exercise and less need to change the assembly of the exercises.

But it’s not all roses and you must be aware of the disadvantages that this method also has: using an inappropriate technique, you can injury your body.
