According to the various cultures and religions, there are foods whose ingestion is absolutely prohibited. Find some examples of taboo food.

If some foods are considered true delicacies at one corner of the planet, the same or similar food can be seen as the opposite elsewhere. Different societies establish what they consider proper or not for consumption and the list of taboo food is able to cause true exclamations in different cultures and religions.

For several aboriginal tribes of Malaysia, the meat of domestic animals contains a certain humanity and is forbidden to eat, but it can be sold to neighbors for their consumption. Lizard meat is considered impure, but the kids are fed from small fish, snails, and frogs.

In India, cows are sacred animal, their intake is expressly forbidden to Hindus, as they consider it a gift from the god, since it provides us milk.

In Nigeria, the taboo foods affect mainly children, as they can´t eat eggs under penalty of becoming thieves, as well as the coconut milk that, according to their belief, will make them less intelligent.

On Jamaica, children are forbidden to eat chicken. These people believe that, if they the ingest before starting to talk, they may never say a word.

On Islamic culture, pigs the banned from cooking. As they are considered unclean animals, they can´t be consumed.

On Brazil, predatory fish such as piranhas, are considered harmful to the health.

In Papua New Guinea, the women of the tribes who are menstruating are forbidden to eat fresh meat, bananas or red fruits. Pregnant women are prohibited to consume fish eggs.
